Webmail is a web-based email client that reads and organizes emails directly on the mail server. It has limited capabilities. Webmail should only be used for the viewing of new email while you are away from the primary computer you normally use to download your mail. Mail read through Webmail is not downloaded to your computer and continues to reside on the mail server. This makes it susceptible to being deleted during periodic auditing in which emails over a certain age are removed. It also makes it susceptible to file corruption. In the event your mail box experiences any corruption, mail stored on the server may be lost permanently. To prevent the loss of your important emails they should be downloaded periodically to your primary computer using an email client such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, or Netscape communicator.
